The Big Late-2019 Publishing Schedule Update/Announcement Post

Hello once again, my lovely readers. I know it’s been a long time since you last heard from me, and if I had to guess what your most burning questions for me are (that is, assuming you remember me), I’d have to guess 1) “Where’s High Risk“? 2)”Are you ever going o get back to The Loft”? and 3) “Are you… okay, Siena? Like, do you need to talk about anything?” And my answers to those would be: 1)It’s complicated, but I promise it’s still coming; 2) Yes, more on that in a bit; and 3) It’s… complicated.

Many of you already know from my blog post a few months back that I recently had a death in the family, which, among other things, contributed to a pretty rough patch in my life that ended up being a lot like the major depressive episode I went through last year before I published Strictly Business. Unfortunately, while I initially hoped that things would settle down in my life enough to allow me to concentrate on my writing again very soon, things have still been chaotic and emotionally draining, including some major career upheavals for both myself and an immediate family member, and a brief period when I thought we might have to move. I’m sorry for being so vague about what I’ve been going through, but I hope you can understand that there are some intimate details about my life I’d rather not overshare, partially out of respect for the privacy of certain loved ones.

Anyway, after a while my worsening depression and anxiety had me wondering once again if I’d made a mistake by thinking I could ever be an author, and if I shouldn’t simply give up. And so, for a brief while, I just… stopped writing. After the initial postponement of High Risk in May, I kept pushing the release back, continually making changes to the book because I wasn’t satisfied with where the story was going despite having been nearly finished with it. It just wasn’t working, and after a while I didn’t know where I wanted to go with it anymore. I was burned out, distracted by other story ideas I wanted to get back to, and at the end of my rope with stress. Once again I was frustrating and disappointing all of you amazing readers who’ve been patiently waiting for my next book; all those negative emotions compounded on my already-hectic life, and I kind of threw in the towel.

Luckily, after about a month I did start writing again; I’ve been writing quite a lot, actually, and without the self-imposed pressure of deadlines it did wonders to help me through my depressive episode. More specifically, I started by going back to Tangled Love. I figured that if I was going to ignore my planned schedule and just write for writing’s sake, I might as well put High Risk on the back burner and get the main source of my creative distraction out of the way. Ironically, revisiting Tera and Eric’s story soon led to a breakthrough with my writer’s block with Kiera and Caleb’s.

So, what does all this mean for you, and what does it mean for my publishing plans for the rest of 2019? Well, for starters, it means that while Tangled Love will be released slightly later than expected, it will now be released before High Risk. Not to worry, though; while Tangled Love will be out September 13, High Risk will be out (for real this time!) near the end of September.

In related news, The Loft series is now being published wide! I’ll be updating their respective book pages on this site as they go live on more retailers, but Whip Smart and Strictly Business are currently available through Barnes and Noble, Apple Books, Kobo, and more! Both will also be available through Google Play in the near future. Whip Smart is also now on Radish, with new episodes every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday!

Not only that, but you can pre-order the Nook edition of Tangled Love right now! And to show my appreciation to all of you, you can get 50% off your pre-order of the book when you use the coupon code BNPLOFT50 at checkout on barnesandnoble.com.

Some other pieces of news both big and small:

  • For those of you who have (and those of you who haven’t) been asking, Megan from The Loft Series will be getting her own books! Stay tuned for more details in the coming weeks, but book one of a new trilogy will be out in November/December, following the release of book four of The Loft and the conclusion of the Risky Business Duet.
  • Currently, I’m on the hunt for the perfect narrators to bring an amazing audiobook version of Whip Smart to life. I know I stated previously that High Risk would likely get an audio version before The Loft books, but I’m really hoping that at least book one of The Loft will be available through Audible by late fall. Audiobook production is a lengthy process, though, especially with dual narrators, so we’ll see how it pans out.
  • You can now follow me on BookBub! This is still a pretty recent development (though I discovered I somehow already had 6 followers when I first signed up), so my page is pretty bland, but I’m hoping to utilize it for lots of book recs in the near future. Also, if ridiculously wordy blog posts and emails aren’t your thing, BookBub is a good place to stay up-to-date on my latest releases and deals.

Thank you all once again for being the most supportive fans an author could ask for. As always, I hope my stories making sticking around worth it. I can’t wait to share what I have in store for you guys in the coming weeks and months. Stay classy, and happy reading… 😉
